Development of Care at Home Service

An objective within our organisational Strategic Plan has been to develop care at home support as part of the diversification of our services to support people with a wider range of needs. Through our participation in Scottish Borders Council’s Care at Home Framework we had been successfully delivering support for some time to a small number of people via our supported living teams. We recognised, however, that being able to offer more support would require further development and had been looking at options to achieve this.

Recently a well-established care at home provider, Hawick Care Company, decided to withdraw from providing services and, following a tendering exercise by Scottish Borders Council, we were delighted to learn that the transfer of this contract had been awarded to our Together Borders service. Following a successful transition phase involving the full transfer of employees from Hawick Care Company, we formally commenced our new care at home service, which will continue to be based in Hawick, on 29th April 2019.

Hawick Care Company had provided care at home support for over 20 years and was recognised for delivering a high quality service. We are very pleased to have the opportunity to welcome this experienced and committed team into our organisation, and hope that we can continue to build on their legacy as we enter this next stage of development.
